Orientation Programme for the newly admitted Under-graduate (UG) - B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture students at ICAR-IARI Umiam Hub

        As part of the Orientation/ Deeksharambh Program (2024-25) of ICAR-IARI New Delhi, (a non-gradial two credit course for two weeks duration, offered at the start of first semester) which serves as a thorough onboarding process to provide the new entrants requisite guidance, resources & support they need to ensure a seamless transition from secondary education to college life.
        On 18th October 2024, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region conducted the orientation/ student induction program for the newly admitted Under-graduate (UG) - B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture students for the academic year (2024-2025) at DNB Hall. The programme was hosted by Dr. M. Prabha Devi, Scientist & Hostel warden (Girls), and started with the welcome address by Dr. S.K. Das, PS & Hub Academic Coordinator, IARI Umiam Hub, who congratulated the students for their hard work & getting admission into one of the best ICAR research institute and shared insights on the overview and progress of the Hub, followed by introduction of the twenty one (21) newly joined UG students from various states around the country.
        Dr. A. Roy, Sr. Scientist & Program Coordinator (UG) briefed the students about the UG academic curriculum and the newly introduced 6th Dean’s Committee with its multiple entry & exit points during the course for being awarded UG Certificate/Diploma/Degree.
        Dr. S. Ghatak, PS & Head DAFS also welcomed the new students and wished them the very best as they step into the new chapter of their career, then Dr. S. Deori, Sr. Scientist & Hostel Warden (Boys) emphasised the students regarding the hostel rules & regulations and told the students to contact the Wardens or any scientist in the Hub if they are to face any problem during their stay in the campus.
        The program concluded with an engaging interactive session between the chief guest Dr. V.K. Mishra, Director, ICAR RC for NEHR also the Hub Nodal Director, Umiam and the students. The program concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. M. Prabha Devi, Scientist & Hostel Warden (Girls) expressing her gratitude to all the students, faculties and organizers for their contributions to the event.
